The changing of the guard in parliament will happen under truly classic UK summer weather today… rain.
General Election results have been pouring in after millions of people across Britain took to the polls on Thursday.
And it looks like it’s going to be pouring down on the country’s new Prime Minister.
Sir Keir Starmer was victorious, with Labour overseeing a landmark victory, so it will literally rain on his parade for his first speech from Downing Street in London.

UK summertime has always got a knack of coming up trumps when it comes to the weather for a big event and the Met Office is predicting heavy rain across the entire south through the morning.
Downpours will start to clear by lunchtime, but there’s a strong chance the rain will return again by around 3pm and into the evening.
The Met Office said: ‘Cloud and outbreaks of rain will spread east through the day bringing some potentially heavy rain across parts of central and southern England and south Wales, with 20-40 mm of rain falling within 12-18 hours in places.’
As for the rest of most of Britain, there will be some sunshine with scattered showers, which will turn heavy at times, forecasters say.
However, if you’re in the far reaches of Scotland, you really will be enjoying a true British summer. Snow and ice.
Mountain tops in the Highlands have been dusted with the white stuff where temperatures could drop to a balmy 6C by the weekend.
This morning, parts of Scotland will also face strong winds.
The Met Office says a ‘strong jet stream in the Atlantic’ is responsible for the ever-changing weather this week.
‘Much of the UK will continue to be on the cooler side of the jet, meaning temperatures will be around or just below average,’ it said. ‘Where there is sunshine though, it will feel fairly warm, largely in the south.’
Looking ahead to the weekend, expect more of the same as the experts added: ‘The weather will remain unsettled and rather cool across the weekend, although there is some sunshine on offer and when in it, temperatures will feel rather pleasant.
‘Early rain over east/southeast England on Saturday should soon clear, leading into a weekend of sunshine and showers, some of which could be heavy with a risk of hail or thunder.
‘Some more persistent rain is possible at times in northern Scotland, while south west Britain is likely to remain the driest overall.
‘Most areas will feel breezy, with strong winds possible in the far south east of England at first.’
