Liverpool vs Forest: Latest team news, predicted lineup and injuries
Liverpool will hope to have Alexis Mac Allister available when they return to Premier League action this weekend against Nottingham Forest.
Arne Slot has guided the Reds to a perfect start to the new Premier League season with three wins from three – the latest that 3-0 hammering of Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Liverpool boss has had a relatively injury-free squad to choose from in the opening stages of the campaign but there was concern for Mac Allister after he was forced off in Argentina’s victory over Chile last week.
Reports in Argentina suggested the former Brighton star was struggling with an adductor problem but he was deemed fit enough to make the squad for Tuesday’s game against Colombia.
Mac Allister came off the bench in that game, however, good news for Liverpool and Slot ahead of the weekend.
The South American contingent of Mac Allister, Allison Becker and Luis Diaz are expected back in the UK on Thursday.
There was another casualty from the international break however with Harvey Elliot sidelined until the end of October with a fractured foot. The 21-year-old pulled out of England Under-21 duty last week after suffering a knock in training.
Curtis Jones meanwhile has missed Liverpool’s last two games having featured as an unused substitute in the opening day win over Ipswich Town in August.
Jones has now returned to full training and could be in contention to return to the squad on Saturday.
Federico Chiesa meanwhile is hoping to make his debut for the club. The Italy international was not involved against United after his arrival from Juventus late in the transfer window.
How Liverpool could line up this weekend…
The winger was not called up to the Italy squad for the international break, instead given time to settle into life on Merseyside, training with the first-team squad this week.
Darwin Nunez, serving an international five-match ban, and Joe Gomez were also among those who reported for training on Monday.
Predicted Liverpool XI vs Nottingham Forest
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Jota
