The Guardian – Largest review of ultra-processed food warns of 32 damaging effects
The Guardian reports a diet comprising ultra-processed food is directly linked to 32 harmful effects on health, including a higher risk of heart disease, cancer, and early death, in the largest review of its kind. The paper also highlights the statistic that more than half the average diet in the UK and US now consists of such foods.
The paper’s leading image is of Emma Caldwell, who was murdered in a remote woods in 2005. Her family have finally seen her killer Iain Packer jailed over her death, which had been one of Scotland’s most high-profile unsolved murders.
