Get you up to speed: Kinahan Cartel bosses spotted at MMA fight in Dubai for the first time in years

Daniel and Christy Kinahan were photographed at the 971 Fighting Championship in Dubai, where they have lived since 2016. Daniel is thought to be in charge of a crime empire, which has been estimated to have a worth of €1 billion (£835 million).

The United States has placed bounties of $5,000,000 on Daniel Kinahan and his father, Christy Kinahan, who are accused of drug trafficking and other criminal activities. According to an investigation by the Sunday Times, the Kinahan family has built an international crime empire estimated to be worth €1 billion (£835 million).

Daniel and Christy Kinahan are currently residing in Dubai, where they have lived since 2016, despite facing a combined bounty of $5,000,000 from the US and having their assets frozen by the United Arab Emirates. The Kinahan cartel, described as an international crime empire with an estimated worth of €1bn (£835m), continues to be involved in various criminal activities, including drug trafficking and money laundering.

Two of the world’s most wanted drug lords have been spotted at an MMA fighting championship in Dubai.

Daniel, the son of the Kinahan Cartel’s head, has maintained a high-rolling lifestyle with global financial trails.

The empire’s founder, Christy, was spotted alongside his son in Dubai last June, where the pair have lived since 2016.

The US has put $5,000,000 bounties on their heads and sanctioned the cartel members, who are accused of smuggling deadly narcotics into the UK and Europe.

The charges don’t seem to have phased the criminal father and son, who appear to be living a lavish lifestyle, even with the United Arab Emirates insisting it has frozen their assets.

Newly released images show the pair sitting front seat at the 971 Fighting Championship in Dubai last year.

Handout issued by Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, a US state department, of a poster issued in April 2022 offering a reward of $5million for the arrest and/or conviction of Daniel Kinahan. Kinahan is being sought by Transnational Organized Crime Rewards Program (TOCRP) for his part in the Kinahan organised crime group. Issue date: Tuesday April 12, 2022.

An investigation from the Sunday Times confirmed photos showed the cartel bosses, with one source saying: ‘It’s him, 100%.

‘He’s put a little weight on around his face, but he’s getting on now. He always looked after himself, but age is catching up with him.’

The images appeared a decade after a couple began a new chapter in Ireland’s gang feuds, when two men attempted to take out Kinahan cartel member Daniel.

The infamous attack on February 5, 2016, in full view of members of the media present, would claim the life of Kinahan cartel member David Byrne, who was shot six times with a high-velocity rifle.

But Daniel, the intended target, managed to slip out of the conflict unscathed before fleeing to Dubai.

From the starting point of low-level crime in their native Dublin, the father and son rose to the helm of an international crime empire that has been estimated to have a worth of €1bn (£835m).

Daniel, 48, is thought to be in charge of the gang, whose activities have ranged from large-scale drug trafficking to murder to purported money laundering links to Hezbollah.

Intelligence seen by WTX previously unveiled the family’s web across the world, linking to front businesses, lawyers and companies.

At the heart of the network map put together by private investigators is Chisty, 69, who lives up to his ‘Dapper Don’ nickname by being a regular visitor at Dubai’s Michelin-starred restaurants.

Daniel befriended Tyson Fury as the Kinahans ventured into boxing, with the fighter attending the gang boss’s extravagant wedding to Caoimhe Robinson in the Gulf city’s ‘seven-star’ Burj Al Arab hotel.

Daniel, nicknamed ‘Chess’ for his strategic thinking, has been named as a key figure in a ‘super cartel’ and has a wealth estimated at £740 million by Ireland’s An Garda Siochána police service.

A lax approach to illicit money among the Dubai authorities is widely believed to be the reason why the Kinahans are able to maintain their lives in the oil-rich Gulf state.
