Kate Hudson has shared that her mother, Goldie Hawn, had a very hands-on approach when she gave birth to her children.
The American actress is a proud mother-of-three, sharing eldest Ryder, 18, with ex-husband, Chris Robinson, Bingham, 10, with Matt Belamy, and three-year-old Rani with her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa.
And when it comes to her own movie icon mother, the Bride Wars star also has a close relationship with her – sometimes, too close.
The 43-year-old admitted that when she was in labour, Goldie was not only present at the hospital but, in fact, right down at her vagina.
Revealing all on The Graham Norton Show, the Knives Out 2 actress shared that her parents – including father Bill Hudson – were very supportive of her performing when she was younger, understanding that she ‘just wanted to be on stage.’
Adding that her parents weren’t ‘super protective,’ Kate said her mother is very ‘involved’ when she’s ‘there’ and then she’s ‘gone.’

Recalling giving birth as an example, Kate said: ‘She was like, in my vagina. You couldn’t get more inside a birthing vagina than my mother.’
With the audience in stitches, she continued: ‘She likes to be very involved in my life. So much so that she came to the births of my children.
‘She just had to be there and was like, right in my vagina with headlight reading glasses on!’
Kate described the moment as something ‘out of a comedy,’ but also noted how special it was to have her there, despite her antics.

‘It was like out of a comedy but as funny as it was, it was also this unbelievably emotional experience for both of us.’
Elsewhere in her interview with the Irish chat show host, Kate spilled the beans on the latest Knives Out film, Glass Onion, which lands in cinemas this December.
Well, we say she ‘spilled the beans,’ but there wasn’t a whole lot she could say due to the ‘mysterious’ nature of the project.

Talking about the filming experience for the whodunnit flick in Greece, she said: ‘I really can’t tell you much about it because it’s a mystery, but it was so much fun to do and my character Birdy was fabulous to play.’
She hailed the ‘wonderful’ cast, which includes James Bond actor Daniel Craig, and revealed the stars were so invested in the murder mystery plot, in fact, they would play their own murder mystery games after leaving the set.

Explaining how filming at the height of the pandemic brought the actors closer together, Kate said they would go home and play Mafia.
‘What else are you gonna play when you’re part of the Knives Out franchise? You’re gonna play a murder mystery!’
The Graham Norton Show airs Friday on BBC One.
