July heatwave: Pace yourself… it’s going to get hotter
The Times says people flocked to beaches up and down the country on the hottest day of the year but health officials warned of the danger from extreme heat.
At 2.10pm at Heathrow yesterday the temperature was 31.6C (89.42F), slightly warmer than Saturday, and this week could get hotter.
Supermarkets reported an increase in sales of sunscreen, paddling pools and barbecues, but Public Health England urged people to look after people who may struggle to keep cool. The Vets Now service said that dogs were susceptible to heat stroke.
