Jose Mourinho has turned down an approach from Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab, according to reports in Spain.
The 60-year-old is out of work after he was sacked by Roma last Tuesday following a run of one win in five games.
Reports over the weekend had claimed that Al-Shabab were in advanced talks with Mourinho over a move to Saudi Arabia.
But according to Cope Radio’s Pedro Morata, Mourinho has decided against joining Al-Shabab for the time being and is ‘waiting for an option that motivates him’.
It’s understood that Napoli are also keen on holding talks with Mourinho, with reports claiming that the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager would be keen to remain in Serie A.
Mourinho has already made it clear that he is keen to manage in Saudi Arabia, however, Al-Shabab offers a tough challenge with the team currently sitting just four points above relegation in the Saudi Pro League.
‘I will go to Saudi Arabia in some free time, but I am convinced that I will work there. I don’t know when but I am pretty sure of it,’ Mourinho said in October.
‘I am committed to my work with Roma and I want to give everything to the club until the last day.
‘No one knows the future but I will definitely do this [working in Saudi Arabia].’
