Jonnie Irwin has revealed he’s been in hospital this week, amid his terminal cancer battle.

The A Place In The Sun star, 49, was told he had six months to live following a stage four lung cancer diagnosis.

Since then, the cancer spread to his brain in August 2020 and he publicly shared his prognosis later that year in December.

He’s since been showered in support as he shares updates on social media, heartbreakingly having recently said he fears his kids won’t remember him and having begun a new treatment therapy.

In a new update, Jonnie wrote he had been hospitalised for a change in his ‘pain management regime’, but remains hopeful about being discharged in time for a weekend appearance.

The dad-of-three wrote: ‘In hospital this week monitoring a changeover in my pain management regime.

‘Fingers crossed I’ll be out in time to make an appearance on Sunday for this weekends @aplaceinthesunofficial LIVE event at @olympialondon in Kensington.’

He added: ‘Hope to see you there…x.’

Jonnie’s post was showered in support, including from co-star Jasmine Harman, who wrote: ‘Really hope to catch up with you this week Jonnie! Lot of love.’

This comes after Jonnie opened up on being ‘weak’ and ‘fragile’ and left ‘frustrated’ at being unable to play football with his sons.

Jonnie said: ‘I tried to play football with Rex the other day and was in goal and I couldn’t get near the ball. It was so frustrating.

‘I’m very sporty and suddenly it’s just like…it was as if it was the first time I’d attempted football. I felt like a granddad. And that broke me a bit.

‘I always thought, “I’m an older dad but I’ll be leading from the front” but I’m now at the back.’

Jonnie, who celebrated his 50th birthday early this year, continued to The Sun: ‘I’m weak now, fragile and my memory is terrible… but I’m still here’.

The Escape to the Country shares Rex and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with wife Jess.
