Joe Jonas reportedly tried to ‘salvage’ his marriage to Sophie Turner ahead of filing for divorce as a ‘last resort’ on Tuesday.
It’s also been claimed that their different lifestyles drove a wedge between the singer, 34, and his 27-year-old Game of Thrones star wife after seven years together.
With speculation rife over their split in recent days, the Jonas Brothers hitmaker obtained a petition for dissolution of marriage in Miami Dade County, Florida.
The petition says ‘the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken’, and Joe is asking for joint custody of their two-daughters, Willa, three, and their one-year-old, whose name hasn’t been shared publicly.
An insider has now claimed that divorce was ‘the last resort for Joe’.
‘He never wanted to break up his family, but he had to take what he felt was the best course of action for his girls,’ they revealed.

The source also told Page Six that he and Sophie ‘were going through it this year’ and that ‘an unhappy home isn’t a home’.
They continued: ‘There’s a lot of noise out there, but it wasn’t a straw-that-broke-the-camel’s-back situation like it’s being reported.
‘It just kept building, and Joe finally reached a point where he felt that he had exhausted all options to salvage the marriage.’
Opposing lifestyles have also reportedly come into play, with a suggestion that this is also what pushed Joe, who is more of a homebody, to officially file for divorce.

‘She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles,’ a source revealed to TMZ.
The publication also claimed that the couple had been experiencing problems in their relationship ‘for the last six months’, with Joe primarily taking care of their two children while on tour over the last three.
Sophie, who reportedly has an ‘ironclad prenup’ with Joe, is said to be working in the UK at the moment, with the couple ‘living separate lives for months’, reports People.
Neither has publicly addressed the rumours.
Joe and Sophie first began dating in 2016 and tied the knot three years later.

While they were engaged, the pair both appeared in the Jonas Brothers’ music video for their 2019 single Sucker – alongside Kevin Jonas and his wife Danielle and Nick Jonas and wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas – which reached number four in the UK charts.
Speaking about Sophie in November 2022, Joe referred to her as ‘the best acting coach ever’ after going to her for tips on how to improve his performances on stage and screen.
