It may have catapulted him to global fame, but Joe Exotic has declared that the Netflix phenomenon Tiger King ‘absolutely’ ruined his life.
The former zookeeper, 60, who is currently a 22-year prison sentence, featured heavily in the 2020 documentary series, alongside the likes of Big Cat Rescue founder Carole Baskin, 61, and former business partner, Jeff Lowe.
The documentary closely followed Exotic and his feud with Carole, which ultimately led to him being convicted of murder-for-hire after it was revealed he hired a hitman to murder her.
Reflecting on his life from behind bars, Exotic explained that he regrets his involvement in Tiger King.
Speaking to TMZ, he said: ‘My biggest regret? Owning a zoo. Other than owning a zoo, it’s meeting Jeff Lowe. Carole Baskin was not a threat to me because I fought her in court. Jeff Lowe is just a corrupt bastard.’

Asked whether he regrets having appeared in Tiger King, Exotic added: ‘First of all, I didn’t do Tiger King.
‘Did Tiger King ruin my life? Absolutely. I was filming just a little tiger film in 2016 and 2017 and then Netflix and Eric Goode and all of them turned this into this conspiracy to kill Carole Baskin to make a show.’
Should he get out of prison, Exotic revealed he hopes to marry his fiancé Seth Posey. He also wants to take up an offer of embarking on a month-long concert tour.
Last month, it was revealed that the former zookeeper is refusing further treatment after doctors warned they think his prostate cancer has spread to his bladder.

It has since been learned that he wants his entire estate to go to his other half, whom he met over the internet.
Exotic also said that he’s included a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order in his will if he was to experience a medical emergency.
Tiger King is available to stream on Netflix.
