Stop what you are doing – we have more details about the upcoming Big Brother revival!

The iconic reality show will return to our screens next year with a brand new home on ITV2 after over four years off air.

And the wheels are in motion as auditions to become a housemate have opened and it’s been confirmed that Big Brother could be back as early as March 2023.

What’s more, we now know the series length and the schedule for the spin-off, which will surely be music to the ears of super fans who are also avid viewers of Big Brother’s Bit on the Side (BBBOTS, previously Big Brother’s Little Brother).

Airing on ITV2 and ITVX in the New Year, the new series will feature ‘carefully selected housemates from all walks of life.’

They set up home in the famous house for up to six weeks, with cameras capturing their every move, from outbursts to meme-worthy moments.

ITV have revealed that the new series will span 36 episodes, which includes 34 highlights shows, plus a 90-minute launch show and final.

Meanwhile, the spin-off show will air six nights a week after every main show, Sunday-Friday.

Paul Mortimer, director of reality commissioning & acquisitions and controller, for ITV2, ItvBe, and CITV, said of the revival: ‘This refreshed, contemporary new series of Big Brother will contain all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round, but with a brand new look and some additional twists that speak to today’s audience.

‘We’re beyond excited to bring this iconic series to ITV2 and ITVX where it should especially engage with our younger viewers.’

Natalka Znak, CEO of Initial, Remarkable Entertainment and Znak TV added: ‘Big Brother is the original and best reality format and one that I have never made before, so it’s a huge privilege to be making an all new version with ITV2 and ITVX.’

Znak declared that the new series is going to be ‘epic’ and, honestly, we couldn’t be more excited.

So, with auditions open and the series length confirmed, that still leaves one important question to be answered – who will be the host?

ITV are yet to announced who will front the show, but Emma Willis has ruled herself out of taking back the reigns after five years as host.

‘I think with every new era of Big Brother, I think there should be a new host,’ she told RadioTimes.com.

‘You know, I loved my time on the show, and I very much kind of said goodbye to it back then because we thought it was over.

‘I don’t tend to go back. I like to move forward.’

Who knows which star will land the gig, but with rapper Stormzy (yes, actual Stormzy) recently revealing he wants to take part as a contestant in the civilian version, anything could happen!

Big Brother airs on ITV2 and ITVX in 2023.
