Israeli protesters block aid trucks destined for Gaza

Protesters in Israel disrupted aid deliveries to Gaza on Monday, obstructing trucks and causing chaos at the Tarqumiya checkpoint near Hebron in the West Bank. The aid, originating from Jordan, was intended for the Gaza Strip, where urgent humanitarian assistance is required.

The White House strongly condemned the incident, denouncing the “looting” of aid convoys as unacceptable. The demonstrators believed to be linked to a group protesting the continued holding of Israeli hostages in Gaza, were seen on social media videos tearing open bags of grain and tossing food packages onto the road.

Unverified footage circulating online depicted protesters overturning boxes from the trucks and reportedly setting vehicles ablaze later in the day, though the authenticity of these videos remains uncertain.

Reports from Israeli media suggest that the Tzav 9 activist group organised the looting. Described as right-wing and aiming to halt aid transfers to Gaza while Israeli hostages remain in captivity, the group’s actions have sparked concern over the disruption of vital humanitarian assistance.
