Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United to make an audacious move for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.
Real Madrid saw off interest from Liverpool to land the France international last year for an initial £68million from Monaco, a move that helped pave the way for Casemiro to head to Old Trafford later in the summer.
United are once again in the market for reinforcements in midfield, having tabled two offers for Chelsea star Mason Mount while weighing up a huge move for West Ham United captain Declan Rice.
Real Madrid now boast one of the best midfielders in world football with Jude Bellingham joining Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde and Tchouameni with the old guard of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos also still firmly in the picture.
Speaking on Vibe with Five, former United defender Ferdinand suggests Tchouameni could now be the ‘odd man out’ in that star-studded midfield, urging United to make a move.
Discussing potential United signings on Vibe with Five, Ferdinand said: ‘In midfield, you know who I would go and get? I would go try get Tchouameni.
‘He is going to be the one who doesn’t play, he is the odd man out at the minute. Massive improvement.’

United are assessing their midfield options with a number of players at risk of being moved on this summer.
The club are prepared to listen to offers for Fred, placing a £20m price tag on the Brazilian with Fulham interested in bringing him to Craven Cottage.

Scott McTominay’s future is also uncertain with United prepared to offer him to West Ham as part of a deal to sign Rice ahead of Arsenal.
The Hammers are interested in signing the Scotland international, who also has admirers at Newcastle United.
United are also offloading academy graduate Zidane Iqbal, who is set to join Dutch side Utrecht for less than £1m.
