Harris and Walz attack Trump in first rally as Democratic ticket
Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has announced her running mate for the upcoming presidential race.
Tim Walz joined Harris on stage at a campaign rally in Philadelphia where the vice president praised Walz’s record as Minnesota governor, saying “I set out to find a partner to help build this brighter future.”
Waltz touted his small-town upbringing and career as a teacher, before attacking his Republican opponents Donald Trump and JD Vance.
Harris and Walz now begin their tour of the key battleground states as the race for the White House heats up. The US public will head to the polls in November to elect their new president after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election and instead endorsed VP Harris to run as the Democratic nominee.
Walz will become the country’s vice president if Harris beats Trump in November.
What a reception. And no one I’d rather campaign alongside than you, @KamalaHarris. pic.twitter.com/R7Sctio3jN

He has gained attention for his strategy of calling Trump and Vance “weird” – a phrase Kamala Harris has now adopted when talking about her rival.
Vance, Trump’s running mate, has called Walz a “far-left radical” and said he would debate his opponent when he is “officially the nominee.”
