Gwyneth Paltrow ski trial: Actress’s team offers court security ‘treats’
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s legal team offered treats for courtroom security during her trial in Utah, but the judge rejected the unusual request following an objection from the plaintiff’s lawyers.
Paltrow is accused of causing a collision that injured retired eye doctor Terry Sanderson and is countersuing, while he is seeking $300,000 in damages.
During the trial, Sanderson’s daughter testified that he has suffered from personality changes and agitation since the accident, and a doctor said he had sustained a traumatic brain injury.
Paltrow’s defence team claims that she was not responsible for the crash and that a man collided into her.

Much of the trial depends on who the jury believes was the downhill skier as they were most likely not to blame for the crash. Both Paltrow and Sanderson say they were the downhill skier.
While skiing with her family at an upmarket Utah ski resort, Gwyneth Paltrow was involved in an incident on a beginner’s slope.
Mr Sanderson’s lawyers allege that Paltrow was skiing uphill and collided into him from behind, with his injuries serving as evidence of this.
However, Paltrow’s defence team contends that she had already begun descending the slope when a man collided into her back. They have also drawn attention to Mr Sanderson’s pre-existing medical conditions, such as vision and hearing loss from a stroke.
Paltrow is seeking $1 in damages plus attorneys’ fees and is set to testify on Friday. Her husband and two children – Apple and Moses are also set to testify.
