There’s no doubt that Taylor Swift rules the music industry at the moment and her Eras Tour opening act Girl in Red shared the reality of working with such an icon.

Girl in Red, real name Marie Ulven Ringheim, previously named Taylor as one of her biggest musical influences and opened for several shows during the US leg of the Eras Tour.

Marie, a relatively new artist from Norway, was shocked when the Ronan singer revealed her love for her debut album If I Could Make It Go Quiet.

The 24-year-old sent a copy of the album to her icon and in a whirlwind moment became one of the opening acts for the Eras Tour US leg.

Taylor may be a major star but Marie shared how the 33-year-old was so kind and hard working, leading to her new motto inspired by the 12-time Grammy winner.

‘I have this new saying, which is what would Taylor do?’ Marie told Metro.co.uk in an exclusive chat during All Points East festival.

Since rising to prominence in 2018 with self-released singles, girl in red now has almost 13,000,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

‘It was the coolest thing ever,’ she said of the Eras Tour. ‘I’m super, super grateful that she wanted to have me on her tour.

‘The best part was seeing the show every single night.’

Taylor has announced her Eras Tour will be made into a self-released film, which has already broken box office records – along with the August singer’s many other records.

She’s bringing her mammoth three and a half hour show to the UK and Europe next year, with hotels for major cities selling out already.

Marie reckons critics of Taylor have ‘issues’ (Picture: Anna Kurth/AFP)

Marie was honoured to witness how hard the most listened to person on Spotify works, taking all the lessons she could from the shows.

‘What I took away is her work ethic and just be kind to everyone in your crew, be kind to everyone around you,’ Marie shared.

Marie joked that that’s not to say she’s normally mean, adding that she will always message and thank her crew for their hard work.

She added that ‘Taylor never complains’, instead she just finds a solution and works through issues – something Marie really admires.

Marie continued: ‘She’s just incredible, it was amazing being able to be there and have that opportunity but also witnessing her and how hard she works.’

However, fame doesn’t come without naysayers and Marie had some strong opinions of those who don’t see Taylor’s stardom.

Defending her mentor, Marie continued: ‘She makes the best music – well that’s objective – but she makes really good music which a lot of people care about. It means a lot to a lot of people.

‘People can say whatever they want to say but if you don’t acknowledge that she is on top of the world, I definitely think you have some issues.

‘If you can’t you can’t see that, something’s wrong.’
