Most of the front pages report on Lord Frost’s resignation as Brexit minister. He quit over his discontent about new Covid measures and the political direction of the government. The papers report heavily on the number of Covid infections, the potential lockdown and fears over the NHS.

A number of front pages feature photographs of Rose Ayling-Ellis after the Eastenders actress won the final of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday.

Scientists have urged the government to bring in restrictions now amid fears deaths could surge to 6,000 a day, according to The Observer.  The paper goes on to suggest that “political paralysis” is undermining UK attempt to “fight this new wave”.

The paper pictures Rose and Giovanni, winners of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing competition. Rose Ayling-Ellis has become the first deaf contestant to win.
