Former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg Sentenced to Five Months in Prison for Lying in Trump Civil Fraud Trial
Allen Weisselberg, the former chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, has been sentenced to five months in prison after admitting to lying during former President Donald Trump’s New York civil fraud trial.
The 76-year-old appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court for a brief sentencing hearing before Judge Laurie Peterson. Weisselberg, wearing a black jacket and blue sweatpants, did not make a statement in court and was led away in handcuffs by court officers.
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Weisselberg confessed to lying to New York Attorney General Letitia James and her investigators during a deposition on May 12, 2023, and while testifying in Trump’s civil fraud case on October 10.
As part of a plea deal, Weisselberg admitted to knowingly providing false information to the AG’s Office in July 2020 regarding the value of Trump’s properties and assets. He acknowledged that Trump had inaccurately claimed his Trump Tower triplex was 30,000 square feet when it was actually just under 11,000 square feet.
This is the second criminal conviction for Weisselberg, who previously pleaded guilty to 15 counts of tax fraud in 2022 while working at the Trump Organization. He will serve five months in jail at Rikers Island before qualifying for supervised release.
It remains uncertain whether Weisselberg’s plea deal will impact Trump’s upcoming “hush money” criminal trial scheduled to begin on April 15. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as they become available.
