Fire rips through block of flats in London as 20 people evacuated
The Metro says Thick plumes of smoke could be seen billowing into the air as an inferno broke out at a block of flats in east London.
Dramatic footage shows firefighters using a 32-metre ladder to tackle the blaze, which was coming from an eight floor apartment.
Around 20 people were evacuated from the building in New Village Avenue, and one person taken to hospital.
Four people had to be rescued via an internal staircase by firefighters wearing breathing equipment.
