Euros 2020: Knighthood expected for Gareth Southgate after leading England to the final against Italy
The i says Gareth Southgate is likely to receive a knighthood, despite England’s defeat at Wembley on Sunday.
The England manager, who is already an OBE, is expected to be honoured alongside captain Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and other key players.
It was thought that Southgate would have been offered the gong regardless of Sunday’s result, in recognition of the England men’s team reaching their first final in a major tournament in 55 years.
