If there’s one person who knows exactly what Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) is thinking it’s his best mate, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) in Emmerdale.
The two have been thick as thieves for years and constantly show how well they know each other in hilarious or more emotional scenes.
One storyline Marlon will certainly be involved in soon is the inevitable reveal Chas (Lucy Pargeter) has been betraying his BFF and sleeping with Al (Michael Wildman).
Right now, poor Paddy has no idea what his wife has been up to but with any secret in a soap, it won’t stay hidden for long.
For Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon, he’s fully aware of how Chas’ affair will impact Paddy, and teased what’s ahead during a chat with Metro.co.uk:

‘If Paddy ever finds out about what’s been going on I think it’s going to crush him. He’s totally in love with her so it’s going to be terribly sad if that happens.
‘I obviously can’t give anything away and without going into too many details, if that were to happen Dominic is going to be so exciting to watch.’
Mark has blown us all away with his emotional performances as Marlon recently, who’s still recovering after a stroke.
One of the most memorable episodes of the year so far was Marlon and Rhona’s (Zoe Henry) wedding, which saw Marlon walk down the aisle – the first time he had walked on his own since his life changed forever.
‘It’s like life – there are ups and downs’, Mark told us, reflecting on the constant changes in tone throughout Marlon’s story.

‘In the worst circumstances there are glimmers that you get that you try to cling on to get through bad situations. What I love about how they’re writing it is that sometimes he almost forgets that he can’t speak properly and he’s quite fluent but when he gets tired, he starts to stutter again, or when he’s anxious he can’t quite find a word. And that’s all in the scripts now and I can’t think of another form of drama that could do that, and I love it for that.

‘Soaps can be talked down a little bit sometimes and we know they don’t deserve that treatment.
‘But when shows like ours do stories like that I just feel like they couldn’t be done better anywhere else.’
Mark knows exactly how the ordeal will impact Marlon’s best friend.
