This month sees the 50th anniversary of Emmerdale, and the show is celebrating with an epic, week of drama as the village is battered by a savage and terrifying storm.
‘We will be having some huge stunts, big emotional heartache, secrets, lies and comedy, and sadly, some of the soap’s much-loved characters will lose their lives,’ promises executive producer Jane Hudson.
‘There will be funerals, a wedding with Kim (Claire King) and Will (Dean Andrews) and a birth. Some of the soap’s much-loved characters will sadly lose their lives.’
Much of the drama takes place around the wedding of Kim Tate, as producer Kate Brooks explains.
‘As we all know, there is always drama around Kim Tate! You can expect things to not run smoothly especially as Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton) still has feelings for Will. There will be a lot of high-octane drama.’

Harriet and Kim both get involved when pregnant Amelia (Daisy Campbell) goes into labour and goes missing in the storm, with Kim joining the search on horseback and Harriet taking to a quad bike to scour the area.
Will they find Amelia in time? Or will they use the cover of the storm to take revenge on each other in their rivalry for Will?
Meanwhile Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Kerry (Laura Norton) are both injured and Al (Michael Wildman) has to make a choice between the woman he loves and the woman he’s officially living with, there’s a cattle stampede after Moira (Natalie J. Robb)’s barn collapses in the wind… In fact the entire village is caught up in the mayhem one way or another.

‘I think the richness of the storylines across this month will be talked about for a long time,’ she says. ‘We have so many stories across one month and alongside that, we have three epic stunts. We don’t die down after the stunts either because we end on a huge cliff-hanger.’
