Elon Musk says advertising boycott will kill X
Elon Musk slammed advertisers who have left his social media site X (formerly known as Twitter) as he warns it will kill the company.
The US billionaire was at an event in New York when he accused companies that have boycotted the site of trying to blackmail him.
Big companies such as Disney and Apple pulled advertisements from X over concerns of antisemitism on the site, including a post from Musk himself.
“Go [expletive] yourself,” the billionaire said in an interview.
Musk apologised for his post on the site, which many labelled as antisemitic, saying it might be the “dumbest” thing he has ever shared online.
In response to a question over the ad boycott, Musk said “I don’t want them to advertise” adding: “If someone is going to blackmail me with advertising or money go [expletive] yourself.”
Musk also said that advertisers could kill X.
“What this advertising boycott is going to do is it’s going to kill the company,” he said.
“The whole world will know those advertisers killed the company, and we will document it in great detail,” he added.
