Elon Musk joins Donald Trump at election rally
Billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk made a surprise appearance at a Donald Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, throwing his support behind the former president’s bid for re-election. Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla warned that the upcoming election could be the “last” if Trump does not win, casting the race as critical for the preservation of democracy in America. Wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, Musk referred to himself as “Dark MAGA,” emphasising his strong support for Trump.
This marks the first time Musk has appeared at one of Trump’s rallies, signalling a growing alliance between the two figures as the election draws closer. Musk has also created a super PAC backing Trump, investing heavily in get-out-the-vote efforts. In August, the two had a lengthy conversation on X (formerly Twitter), where they discussed issues such as immigration and government regulations.
At the rally, Musk praised Trump as a champion of free speech, while criticising efforts by Democrats to restrict freedoms, including attempts to ban voter ID requirements in California. The event took place at the same venue where Trump survived an assassination attempt in July, which Musk also referenced in his remarks.
