Imagine popping into Starbucks only to be greeted by Ed Sheeran behind the counter, apron on and serving up your coffee.
Well, that’s exactly what happened to a selection of lucky customers as the Bad Habits hitmaker picked up a shift at a Starbs in Seattle, not long after working at a Lego shop!
The unusual day of work for the Grammy-wining star, 32, was part of the promo for his upcoming album, Autumn Variations, as Ed helped to dish out the first pumpkin spice lattes of the year.
He captured his shift in video footage shared with fans later on, and he did actually fit right in!
‘Hey, guys! So, I’m here in Seattle and I’m gonna go into Starbucks and launch the pumpkin spice latte for Autumn Variations, here we go,’ he began.
Naturally, a huge crowd gathered outside the coffee shop, with fans pressed against the windows hoping to catch a glimpse of the singer.

Ed then joked that, when a customer told him their name for their order, he was purposely going to write the wrong one on their cup for a laugh.
And he did exactly that, as a customer named Erin ended up with ‘Dennis’ on her cup, while Lance was renamed as ‘Brian.’
Classic Ed!
Despite all the chaos as the store flooded with people, Ed was praised for doing an ‘amazing’ job by his temporary colleagues.
Saying proudly at the end that he felt like ‘part of the gang’ with his own Starbucks uniform and name badge, he celebrated his shift with a coffee shot.
Taking to the comments, fans were loving the short change in career.
‘Yaaaas that’s my fav for the season 😋’, Nicole Scherzinger joked.
‘Raise your hand if you would agree to be randomly renamed by Ed fr. lol’, said another.

‘I’m loving this new way of promo. Way better than 3 radio interviews on the same day and more fan interaction’, another wrote.
One follower quipped: ‘No different than a regular day at Starbucks when they get everyone’s name wrong 😂’
Ed announced his new album a couple of days ago with a video message for his millions of adoring fans.
Surprising everyone by breaking the tradition of mathematical-themed album names, the musician explained how last autumn, he found that he and his friends were ‘going through so many life changes’, as ‘after the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head or imploded’.
‘When I went through a difficult time at the start of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on, and when I learned about my friend’s different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time,’ he said.

Ed shared that ‘there were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness and confusion’ at that time in his life.
My dad and brother told me about a composer called Elgar, who composed Enigma Variations, where each of the 14 compositions were about a different one of his friends. This is what inspired me to make this album.
‘When I recorded Subtract with Aaron Dessner, we clicked immediately. We wrote and recorded non-stop and this album was born out of that partnership. I feel he has captured the feeling of autumn so wonderfully in his sonics and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.’
Ed concluded by writing that Autumn Variations is available now for pre-order and will be released on September 29.
