Activists from climate change group Just Stop Oil have vowed to remain on top of the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge until they are ‘brought down’.
This means commuters are facing further rush-hour havoc this morning as the protest against the new government oil and gas licences continues.
Highways England said the bridge at the Dartford Crossing remains shut with six miles of slow moving traffic already formed in both directions.
The two men identified online as ‘Morgan’ and ‘Marcus’ spent the cold night atop the bridge above the road linking Essex and Kent.
