Croydon incident: Riot police storm street as wanted man hurls furniture out window

Daily Mirror says Armed police are in a stand-off with a wanted man throwing furniture from a window above a busy street in Croydon, south London.

Members of the public have been evacuated from the area in the High Street as riot police stand ready.

Teams of around 11 officers have been seen in the street as a statement confirmed they are dealing with a wanted man.

Police have been in the area since around 8am.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers in Croydon are dealing with a wanted man.

“Officers were called at 08:10 on Wednesday, 1 June to High Street Croydon, near the junction with Katherine Street.
