Many Coronation Street fans have been calling for serial killer Stephen Reid to be caught at last; but new scenes hint that he might evade justice as his exit looms.

Todd Boyce has been filming scenes on location with the Corrie team, working on a moment that sees his haplessly murderous character try to flee the UK.

Having bumped off guest characters left, right and centre, the discovery of Teddy’s dead body will leave him in a spin, and facing the end.

Recently, pictures showed the moment that the body is recovered from the water, followed by a clash with Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), who is strangled by his former father-in-law.

After this chain of events, Stephen will realise that the game is up. Knowing that he faces the rest of his life in prison, he makes a mad dash.

Arriving at the airport, a stressed looking Stephen buys his ticket, which is presumably one way to as far from Weatherfield as possible.

But given the discovery of Teddy and the attack on Tim, time is of the essence as he is likely to have the police on his trail.

As for whether he gets away or gets caught, that remains to be seen for now, but it certainly seems like the long-awaited final chapters are unfolding.

Just in time for the annual special soap week in October too…

Recently, actor Todd hinted at how things would fall apart for his alter-ego – and it’s Stephen’s own fault!

‘We are going to see him start taking risks,’ he told us.

‘As he gets more desperate, his life is starting to unravel and it is going to be interesting to see how he deals with the pressure

‘He is bound to start making mistakes and that could be his undoing.’

So far, Stephen has racked up three murder victims.

His first kill was Leo, who had figured out the kind of man he is, so ended up in a dumpster.

Rufus’ suspicious wife Lou has also been doing too much digging, while Tim has always had his eye on Stephen.

Could Stephen really succeed in killing the much-loved local when he throttles him?

With Stephen’s end nigh, it can’t be ruled out that he will take someone else down before he goes.

It certainly promises a few more twists before the final curtain.

Leo’s dad Teddy was next, when he started to figure out what had happened, so it was a hole punch for him.

And, most recently, Stephen faced losing everything due to businessman Rufus, who was then submerged in his own living room.

The dastardly businessman also tried several times to dispatch wife Elaine, and spent weeks spiking Carla Connor with LSD.

Speculation around who might go next remains rife, with work and romance rival Owen being top of the hit list.
