Coronation Street’s star Jennie McAlpine has confirmed her return to the soap as Fiz Dobbs.
The actress, 39, left the ITV soap in scenes which aired last May to go on maternity leave, following news that she was pregnant.
Taking to Instagram, actress Claire Sweeney (Cassie Plummer) and actor Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) shared an on-screen family snap, where Jennie was pictured.
Alan captioned the snap: ‘Jen’s back. Family is the heart of the home No.9 @coronationstreet.’
Using the same picture, Claire penned: ‘So good to meet my daughter-in-law today @alanhalsall lovely Jennie McAlpine [heart emoji] Fiz.’
The 39-year-old has now shared news of her baby girl’s arrival via a new interview on Monday (August 28), revealing that she actually gave birth in April but decided to keep it quiet for a little while longer.

‘I’m so aware of how precious this time is and just how quickly it goes,’ she told OK! Magazine on the arrival of her little bundle of joy. ‘It’s chaos, though. I mean, it was chaos before but now it’s another level!’
Admitting to the publication that choosing a name was a ‘big conversation’ for she and husband of six years Chris Farr, Jennie revealed that they ultimately decided on Doris.
‘Doris is a family name and I love that it goes with Albert and Hilda’ she added. ‘They’re also all very ‘Corrie’.
Corrie temporarily had Jennie’s character Fiz written out of the show in Jennie’ absence, sending her down to Norfolk.
Fiz accepted a job as an Underworld supervisor after being offered the opportunity by Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).
While the job boasted double in salary, it sadly came at a cost for Fix who ended up moving away and leaving her family behind.
Husband Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), however, was quick to encourage her to take the position and therefore Fiz departed the cobbles last May.
The star temporary left last year.
