King Charles has promoted his aide to ‘super equerry’ making him his new right-hand man.
Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson reportedly received his promotion after he charmed Charles and Queen Camilla.
He was due to leave the army within 18 months, ending his current role as equerry, The Sun reports.
But the royal couple are so fond of Thompson, 40, they have offered him the promotion which will see him tasked with organising Charles’s private affairs.
Thompson has also won over royal fans after viewers branded him a ‘hunk’ at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
He has since made further appearances, including at the King’s coronation.
Admirers will now be able to ‘see a lot more of him’, with an insider saying Charles pulled a ‘decent trick by picking a social media sensation to be right-hand man’.
Thompson, of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, is involved with assisting the King with his daily duties, which includes standing next to him, looking after his carriages, coaches and Rolls-Royces.
