CEO shooting suspect opposes extradition in fiery court appearance
Luigi Mangione, 26, accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, protested his extradition to New York during a Pennsylvania court hearing. Mangione, an Ivy League graduate, shouted phrases like “completely unjust” and “an insult to the intelligence of the American people” as he entered the courtroom.
Mangione was arrested on Monday at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania after a customer recognised him and alerted staff. When detained, he allegedly had a “ghost gun” with a 3D-printed suppressor, ammunition, fake IDs, cash, and a three-page manifesto expressing hostility toward corporate America.
The main difference being Luigi Mangione allegedly killed one person while the Insurance CEO killed thousands of people for profit. In our dystopian capitalist society killing people behind a desk with a pen is somehow ok as long as it enriches our corporate overlords. 🤬 pic.twitter.com/4k35Cwtc6e

Details of the CEO’s fatal shooting
Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside the New York Hilton in midtown Manhattan early on 4 December. Police described the attack as a “premeditated, targeted” crime. The shooter fled on foot, later switching to a bicycle to escape through Central Park.
Authorities launched a days-long manhunt, deploying drones, police dogs, and dive teams. Investigators recovered evidence, including shell casings with inscriptions like “deny,” “defend,” and “depose.”
