Former Moroccan intelligence officer Mehdi Hijaouy sought protection from extradition by offering information on Morocco’s intelligence operations to Spanish authorities. He claimed knowledge of the Pegasus spyware targeting Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez but ultimately abandoned this route and fled Spain, with his current location unknown.

Geet Wilders, the Dutch populist leader, has abandoned his bid to become prime minister, despite his party’s dramatic victory in the 2023 elections. “I can only become prime minister if ALL parties in the coalition support it. That was not the case,” he wrote on X. 

Leonid Volkov, a long-time ally of the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, has been attacked outside his home in Lithuania.  Volkov was attacked with a hammer and tear gas while in his car in Vilnius on Tuesday night.
