Boris Johnson exited Downing Street in disgrace just last month – but more than a few Tories now want him back, a new survey has claimed.
A YouGov report reveals only two in five (38%) Conservative members want Liz Truss to stay in office as her short premiership is mired by self-confessed ‘mistakes’.
One in three (32%) think Mr Johnson is the person to take the reigns – despite around 60 resignations forcing him out when he finally admitted he knew about sexual misconduct claims surrounding MP Chris Pincher.
This scandal followed others like Partygate, the Owen Paterson debacle and his controversial flat refurbishment.
Ironically, Ms Truss is facing similar dire numbers to Mr Johnson just before his moving van service was called to Number 10.
A total of 55% of Tory members want her to resign following her failure of a mini-budget.
This compares to the 59% that wanted Mr Johnson out on the eve of his departure. Only 36% wanted him to stay.
Those who voted for Truss to take over are particularly keen on a Johnson return if she did quit, with 44% placing him top of their list of potential successors.

But more than half (57%) of these people would prefer if she stuck around, compared to 39% who are done with her.
Not all Tory members want Mr Johnson to step up from the backbenches – 23% of them prefer Ms Truss’ leadership rival Rishi Sunak, while 10% want Defence Secretary Ben Wallace.
When questioned on who boasted the capability to handle the role of PM from a list of 11 candidates, Mr Johnson still came out on top with 63% backing him.
Mr Wallace wasn’t far behind with 62% thinking he had the skills, while Mr Sunak followed on 60%.
Meanwhile, 54% thought leader of the Commons Penny Mordaunt – who insisted Ms Truss wasn’t hiding under a desk yesterday – could competently lead Britain .
