Black Lives Matter co-founder to step down amid criticism
Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors has announced she is stepping down as executive director of the BLM foundation.
Cullors decried what called a smear campaign from a far-right group but said neither that nor criticism from Black organisers have influenced her departure.
She said she is leaving to focus on other projects, including a second book and a TV development deal. There have been calls from activists and critics to investigate whether Cullors has used the foundation’s money to enrich herself. It came after news of her buying a $1.4 million home as well as owning three other homes, including a ranch came to light.
