The Benefits from Pacific trade deal are 'going to be enormous' says Andrea Leadsom
Britain stands to benefit enormously from post-Brexit trade deals; specifically the Pacific Trade deal according to Andrea Leadsom.
The Health Minister was speaking on the fourth anniversary of the UK leaving the European Union.
She told GB News: “The Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal is going to be enormous. It’s where almost half the world’s growth is predicted to come in future decades.
“That is going to be an increasing part of their trading opportunity for the UK but at the same time we are still massively trading with the EU.
“It’s simply not true to say that we don’t have the ability to trade with the EU, of course we do.”
In a discussion during Breakfast with Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster, she added: “The UK has gone up the rankings in world trade organisation terms.
“We’ve signed up to this massive Trans-Pacific Partnership and in the health space, our own medicines agency means we’re able to look at medicines regulations much faster under our own control
“It meant we were able to come out of lockdown sooner because we were able to vaccinate our population. And what that meant is that we grew our economy faster.”
She added: “Look at many EU nations, they’ve been in recession over the last year or two.”
The bias within in this article is within the quotes, the suggestion these deals couldn’t be reached or in fact better ones, whilst being part of the EU.
Significantly, the deals are being dubbed as enormous without having any context added to them for comparison, as the Uk hasn’t had any trade deals for the last 20 years. In real terms this is not better than what the EU had pre-brexit, accounting for inflation.
Not balanced.
GB News’s media has an inherit bias as a pro Brexit Channel. Championing the likes of Nigel Farage.
