The latest update for Baldur’s Gate 3 is 30GB in size and adds two new modes and a brand new playable section.
It’s almost certainly going to be a good few days for Baldur’s Gate 3 next week, with the game the favourite to win Game Of the Year at The Game Awards and the delayed Xbox version likely to be announced, and perhaps even released, on the same night.
Today’s not a bad day either, as now most of the more serious bugs have been dealt with the latest update – Patch #5 – is filled with interesting new features, including a playable epilogue set six months after the events of the main game.
As well as that there’s two new modes, one of which allows you to customise the game however you want and another that forces you to play using only one save file.
According to developer Larian, the epilogue is set six months after the events of the main story, with Withers hosting an event at their camp. Who exactly is there depends on who made it through to your ending, but it seems there’ll be some new cut scenes to commemorate fallen comrades.
It sounds a bit like some of the DLC and interactions at the end of Mass Effect 3, although apparently if you’ve been ‘too evil’ you might not get an invite at all.
Honour Mode is the new options with only one save file, which is implied to be more difficult than usual, with bosses having ‘new tricks’.
Custom Mode is the opposite in that it removes all restrictions and allows you to play the game however you want, including making it more like the tabletop Dungeons & Dragons, with extra rules and complications.

There’s also changes to how the inventory works – including being able to manage your companions’ inventories from the camp – and new options for Orion’s armour.
The full patch notes detail all the changes, which still include a lot of bug fixes and other more minor changes.
Although the update is technically only 30GB you’ll need 130GB of free space to actually install it, so you better make sure you have that sorted before you try and download it.
