Turkey issues 82 arrest warrants including one for a mayor over pro-Kurdish protests Arrest warrants were issued on Friday by Turkish authorities for 82 people, including a mayor, over pro-Kurdish protests six years ago, officials and local media said. The warrants relate to October 2014 protests in Turkey sparked by the seizure by IS jihadists of the mainly Kurdish Syrian town of Kobane.  Police are hunting for the 82 suspects in the Turkish capital and in six other provinces, the Ankara chief public prosecutor’s office said in a statement.  But the office did not specify what the offences the 82…

Michael Kiwanuka wins Mercury prize for self-titled album Michael Kiwanuka has won this year’s Mercury Prize. The singer-songwriter, from North London, had been nominated twice before, but it was his third self-titled album that scored the prize.  He beat off competition from Stormzy, Dua Lipa, Charlie XCX, Kano and Laura Marling.  He told the BBC: “This year, I thought if there’s any chance, it would be this one. Kim Jong Un issues rare apology over the killing of South Korean official North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un has issued a rare apology for the killing of a South Korean official, Seoul says.  Kim reportedly told his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in that the “disgraceful affair” should not have happened.  South Korea has said the 47-year-old man was found floating in the North’s waters by troops and was shot dead and his body was set alight, according to Seoul. BREAKING: Police officer shot dead at Croydon police station in south London. A police officer has been shot dead by a suspect being booked into custody at a south London police station today. The custody sergeant was killed and the suspect then turned the gun on themselves, according to Standard newspaper sources. Breonna Taylor: Protests erupt after officer charged but not over her death A police officer has been charged over the drugs raid that resulted in the fatal shooting of a black woman at her home in Kentucky, US.  Breonna Taylor, 26, a hospital worker, was shot multiple times as officers stormed her home on 13 March.  Officer Brett Hankison has been charged, but not with Ms Taylor’s death, but with “wanton endangerment” for firing into a neighbour’s apartment.  Two other officers who were involved have not been charged.  Kentucky law states someone is guilty of wanton endangerment if they commit…
