Wednesday’s newspapers lead with various headlines reflecting a variety of domestic stories. The tabloids lend more coverage to an elderly man who was kicked to death by a 14-year-old boy who has since been arrested. The left-leaning broadsheets lead with the ‘horror’ in the Channel – as at least 12 migrants died after the sinking of an overcrowded boat. Amongst the dead include children and a pregnant woman.

A handful of the papers leave some space on their front pages to report on the reaction following the UK’s decision to ban the sale of some arms to Israel over concerns they could be used in war crimes. The papers in particular look at the reaction from the US, as the move is the first significant distancing of the UK from US policy regarding Israel and the war in Gaza.

The back pages feature various headlines covering the Premier League, the latest from English cricket and news Phil Foden, Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer have pulled out of the upcoming England camp.

WHO exceeds target for Gaza polio vaccinations as campaign continues The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that polio vaccinations in central Gaza have exceeded expectations during the first two days of its immunisation campaign. Dr Rik Peeperkorn, WHO’s representative in the Palestinian territories, reported that 161,030 children under 10 were vaccinated on Sunday and Monday, surpassing the initial target of 156,500. Seven dead in Lviv in fresh wave of strikes on Ukraine A fresh wave of Russian attacks in Ukraine has claimed the lives of seven people, including three children, in the western city of Lviv, according to Mayor Andriy Sadovy. The deadly strike occurred early Wednesday and involved drones and hypersonic missiles. Among the victims were a baby, two girls aged nine and 14, and a midwife, officials reported. The attack on Lviv comes as Ukraine is still grappling with the aftermath of a devastating strike on a military institute in Poltava on Tuesday, which killed at least 50 people.…
