Arctic Monkeys fans have jumped to the defence of Alex Turner, after he was criticised during the set, despite being struck down by acute laryngitis.
The band confirmed they’d be rocking the Pyramid Stage on Friday just hours earlier, after Turner was forced to cancel a gig in Dublin which threw their Glasto slot into uncertainty.
But he was thankfully able to bounce back, and took to the stage for an intense 90-minute slot.
The rock band rolled through their hit tracks including Don’t Sit Down Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair and Crying Lightning, after kicking things off with Snap Out Of It.
After a brief spell at the piano, Turner brought the energy back up for their 2013 song Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High.

However, some fans, noticing the difference in Turner’s voice, were quick to criticise his vocals, with one writing: ‘Why’s he putting a strange voice on.’
Another blasted: ‘Worst performance I’ve ever seen from them. Voice management maybe after the last week, but p**s poor.’
But plenty of fans jumped to his defence, with one writing: ‘I won’t tolerate this Alex Turner slander.’
Someone else defended: ‘I thought it was great…’, with another echoing: ‘He’s absolute class mate. Incredible performance.’
Another fan hit back: ‘“Butchering” wtf were you watching!? One of the greatest there is.’
Someone else wrote: ‘Am I the only one who thinks Alex Turner is sounding absolutely f**king incredible tonight???? So much shade for him on here, but he’s mesmerising to me.’
‘He is sounding epic,’ another agreed, with one fan writing: ‘He sounded incredible! I absolutely loved it, from start to finish! Why do people have to be so negative, just shut up and appreciate a bloody good headliner!’

Arctic Monkeys closed their headline set with an extended instrumental jamming session and the lights went down.
Chants of ‘one more song’ could be heard before the group returned to the stage for a slowed down version I Wanna Be Yours.
But in a full circle moment, the band closed out their set by cranking the energy back up with their debut single I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor.
‘We’re going to leave you now, but thank you for having us,’ Turner told the crowd.
‘Something tells me that you’re going to be okay – Goodnight,’ before ending with an electric rendition of R U Mine?
Turner waved to the crowd as they cheered and applauded the group off the stage.
Arctic Monkeys previously headlined the world-famous festival in 2007 and 2013.
