Breaking – Raging Wildfires in Los Angeles County Force Thousands to Evacuate
Three massive wildfires are wreaking havoc across Los Angeles County, destroying homes and displacing residents. The largest blaze, in Pacific Palisades, has prompted tens of thousands to flee under evacuation orders.
Pacific Palisades Fire: A Race Against Time
Residents between Malibu and Santa Monica faced chaos as they abandoned cars and scrambled to evacuate. Traffic congestion hindered escape efforts, while flames leaping across the highway forced some to consider seeking refuge on the beach. At a Pasadena care facility, workers raced against the clock to evacuate elderly residents as the fire closed in, just a block away.
The Palisades fire, spreading at a staggering pace of five football fields per minute, has already consumed over 2,900 acres. Los Angeles has declared a state of emergency, with firefighters battling “tornado-like” winds that have made containment efforts nearly impossible.
Additional Fires Add to the Crisis
Two other significant fires have erupted in the region. The Hurst fire, burning 500 acres north of San Fernando, and the rapidly growing Eaton fire in Altadena, which has scorched 1,000 acres in just a few hours, have further strained resources. Meanwhile, over 200,000 homes and businesses are without power across the county as the fires rage on.
