Hunter Biden federal gun charges trial set for June

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, is scheduled to stand trial on June 3rd on charges related to the illegal possession of a handgun, as stated by a judge.

Prosecutors claim that Hunter provided false information about his drug use on application forms when acquiring the weapon in 2018. If found guilty of the three federal counts, he could face a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.

During a court session on Wednesday, prosecutors indicated that their arguments would span approximately four days, while Hunter’s defense team estimated their presentation would take two days.

But his lawyer, Abbe Lowell, told reporters that he expected the case to be dismissed before trial begins, according to CBS News.

The charges against Hunter Biden, involving both gun possession and separate tax allegations, were filed by special counsel David Weiss after a plea deal collapsed. He faces two counts of making false statements and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, all stemming from his purchase of a revolver at a Delaware gun store in October 2018, which he retained for approximately 11 days.

In his own admission, documented in a 2021 memoir, Hunter Biden acknowledged being in the grips of a “full-blown addiction” during that period.
