McDonald’s has announced the return of a much-loved item after an almost four-year hiatus.
On Twitter, the chain revealed its Breakfast Wrap will be back on the menu from Wednesday February 7, answering the prayers of fans across the country.
The popular product was axed in 2020 due to lockdown restrictions before it was confirmed it was gone for good in 2022, with customers begging for it to be reinstated on social media ever since.
And after over 5,000 DMs, ‘too many tweets to count’, and even a petition on Change.org, it seems McDonald’s has finally got the message.
The Breakfast Wrap will look a little different from how you remember, now coming with two free-range round eggs rather than a folded omelette.
The tortilla will still contain the same ingredients otherwise, though: a pork sausage patty, a slice of bacon, a crispy potato rosti, cheese, and either tomato ketchup or brown sauce.
Priced at £4.39 on its own or £5.89 as a meal with a drink a hash brown, it’ll be available in restaurants from 5am to 11am alongside other breakfast favourites like McMuffins.
Unfortunately, however, it’s currently only slated as a limited edition menu inclusion, so you’ll have to be quick if you want to get your hands on one.
McDonald’s typically updates its offering every six weeks or so, giving you until around the end of March to enjoy the iconic wrap – yet if it proves popular, there is potential it’ll be kept on.
After the fast food giant shared the news on social media, comments flooded in from overjoyed fans.
‘I was still banging on just yesterday, to anyone that will listen, at how outrageous it is that this item was removed!’ replied @kittydevine. ‘Good choice guys!’
‘This is genuinely the best news I’ve heard for a long time,’ said @louisez97, while @jexniix added: ‘Finally!!! Best day of my life!!’
It’s not the only thing coming back either. The Steakhouse Stack burger and Fajita Chicken wrap have both been reprised for the New Year, as have Cheesy Garlic Bites, and Cadbury Dairy Milk and Cadbury Caramel McFlurries.
Despite calls to make the festive Galaxy Caramel Pie a permanent fixture, it didn’t make the cut, leaving McDonald’s menus on January 1 as scheduled. But hopefully the newness on offer will quell your sadness somewhat – at least come breakfast time.
