Daisy’s determined to get the pub back (Picture: ITV)
The future of the iconic Rovers Return pub is still up in the air in Coronation Street. It’s been closed and boarded up since the autumn, initially for refurbishments.
Then the dreadful news emerged that the company who’d bought it intended to sell it off to be developed into flats. It’s an unthinkable prospect for residents and viewers alike.
In coming episodes Daniel (Rob Mallard) hopes that he and Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) can make a future for themselves and Bertie as a family by buying the business and running it as a pub, but his plans are thrown into disarray when a guilty Daisy confesses to him about sleeping with Ryan (Ryan Prescott).
Meanwhile someone who would dearly love to have the Rovers back is former landlady Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews).

When Audrey (Sue Nicholls) gives Jenny Stephen (Todd Boyce)’s laptop, she looks on it for her old work files. The last one he edited on the day he died was labelled ‘Infinity Seagull Ventures’ and Jenny hopes it might hold the key to where Stephen stashed the money he stole from Underworld. She and Carla (Alison King) take the laptop to the police but DS Swain (Vicky Myers) explains they don’t have the resources to try to crack Stephen’s password.

But the key to the password might be in Coronation Street after all, as among Stephen’s possessions that Audrey has is his journal.
Jenny and Carla try to persuade Audrey to let them see the journal but she refuses. Jenny is despondent, but Daisy tells her not to give up because if the money is recovered she deserves a cut of it – and it could be enough to enable her to buy the Rovers.

With Jenny at a loss about what to do next, Daisy decides to help matters along. She steals David (Jack P. Shepherd)’s keys from his coat while he’s at the bistro, and lets herself into the Platts’ house.
She searches frantically around for where Audrey may have hidden the journal, but as she’s looking there’s the sound of a key in the lock.
