Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) behaviour in Monday’s (November 13) Coronation Street left David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and Max Turner (Paddy Bever) puzzled.

Following her son Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) death, David and Max have been keeping an eye on things for Audrey at the salon.

Tonight, when Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment) arrived, Audrey decided she would sort his cut.

As Kirk sat down and Audrey picked up the clippers, David watched with concern, aware her hands were shaking as she got closer to the side of Kirk’s head.

Audrey managed to create a distraction and rushed out but in the Bistro, David sat down and confronted his gran.

Poor Audrey admitted that hairdressing terminology has developed a lot compared to when the salon first opened and now, she doesn’t really know what to do.

David said to Audrey that yes, she’s had a successful career, but there’s nothing wrong with admitting it might be time to hang up the scissors.

Audrey said to David that while she wants to do that, she needs the money because Stephen has left her with barely anything.

Before Stephen was killed by Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), Audrey discovered that he had stolen the majority of her cash.

As well as Audrey, Stephen also left the Underworld staff in a mess when he transferred the factory’s bank balance into a bogus one he had set up.

With Carla Connor (Alison King) and Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) trying to get things back on track at Underworld, can Audrey do the same so she’s able to peacefully retire?
