Police in Pennsylvania are investigating after a car smashed into a home’s second story bedroom.

Firefighters in Lewistown responded to the bizarre crash on Sunday afternoon at a single family home in Decatur Township in central Pennsylvania.

They arrived around 3.15pm to find a gray Toyota sedan lodged into the side of the house’s second story, dangling precariously off a small balcony.

Photos from the scene show the car was embedded into a bedroom, complete with a mattress and exercise equipment inside.

Rescue crews from the Junction Fire Company in Lewistown helped the homeowners remove the car, stabilize the house, and put a tarp over the hole to prepare for the severe thunderstorms the region saw on Monday.

Three people were inside the home when the car struck the building. They were evaluated by first responders at the scene, the Junction Fire Company said.

The car’s driver managed to get out of the vehicle himself. He was taken to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

First responders at the scene believe that the driver was traveling at a high speed before hitting a ‘change in elevation’ on the side of the road, causing the car to launch into the air, local station Fox 8 reported.

However, state police investigators believe the crash was not an accident.

‘The crash was an intentional act and charges are pending,’ the Pennsylvania State Police said in a patrol report.

A 20-year-old male was listed on the report as a person involved. Charges against him are pending, state police said.

This is not the first time a car has crashed into the second story of a building this year.

In April, a car vaulted off the side of a road in Colfax, California to end up embedded into the home of an elderly couple.

The driver was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. The homeowners were not injured in the accident, but their home was made uninhabitable by the collision.
