It’s that time of year again; we have our first Google device image leak and this time it’s the Pixel 8 Pro.
You’d think the tech giant might have been extra careful after leaks of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro hit the news months before the devices.
While alleged press images of the Pixel 8 Pro leaked back in March, this time we have actual hands-on images of the phone. These were posted to Reddit by a user who claimed to have received the phone ‘from the device team in Google for testing’, likely breaking NDA.
The post and the Reddit account it came from have since disappeared but thankfully Android Police and others saved the images.
The leaked images show the backside and front display of the supposed Pixel 8 Pro, revealing the fastboot screen where you can see that it has 12GB Samsung LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB storage.
The stickers on the back confirm that the device is a prototype meant for testing purposes.
Judging by the images it looks like the Pixel 8 Pro will have more rounded edges than its predecessors, confirming rumours that the Pixel 8’s display curvature would be twice that of the Pixel 7 Pro.

This should help make the phone easier to hold as it bids goodbye to the curved panel found on previous Pixels.
We love the Pixel phones for their top–notch camera and it looks like Google is switching things up on the Pixel 8 with a triple-camera setup housed in a unified pill which appears larger than previous models, suggesting bigger cameras.
Previous leaks revealed that Google plans to overhaul the Pixel 8 Pro’s camera with a newer 50MP primary sensor and a larger 64MP Sony IMX787 ultra-wide sensor.
So, if the rumours are true, we might have even better image quality thanks to the predicted Tensor G3 chip and staggered HDR.
While it’s likely that this is an authentic leak, with Google’s Pixel 8 nearly four months away from launch we could expect some minor design changes from the pictures we see now.
Google’s big smartphone reveal at this year’s I/O conference was its first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold.
There’s no official release date for the Pixel 8 at the moment, but so far Google has stuck to an October release so we could expect the Pixel 8 series to make its debut in October 2023.
