Holby City star David Ames has joined Hollyoaks, it has been confirmed on This Morning.
The actor, who played Dominic Copeland in the popular medical drama, will make his Hollyoaks debut later this year when he arrives in the eponymous village to take over as the new headmaster in the wake of Sally St Claire’s (Annie Wallace) firing.
David, 39, was delighted to announce the news during Friday’s (June 2) edition of This Morning, which saw soaps queen Sharon Marshall venture to the set to of the Channel 4 soap as part of the ITV daytime programme’s big soaps week ahead of the soap awards.
‘I’m stepping in as the new headmaster’, revealed the soap star. ‘There was a vacancy at Hollyoaks High School so I thought I’d step in and fill the role!’.
Sharon, who also writes for EastEnders, was as shocked as all of us by the news and, like the expert that she is, she wasted little time in quizzing David, hoping to get some answers about what kind of a character his will be.
”My lips are sealed on that one!’, he said, and consider us VERY excited.

Holby City was controversially axed last year after 23 years on air.
