Michael Owen hailed ‘underrated’ Ben White after Arsenal beat Crystal Palace to move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Arsenal suffered a rare defeat on Thursday night as they were knocked out of the Europa League by Sporting Lisbon.
But Mikel Arteta’s side, who are aiming to win their first Premier League title since 2004, responded by thumping Crystal Palace 4-1 at the Emirates on Sunday.
Gabriel Martinelli, who missed the decisive penalty against Sporting, put Arsenal ahead on 28 minutes and Bukayo Saka doubled the hosts’ lead just before half-time.
Granit Xhaka added a third before Crystal Palace threatened to mount a comeback as Jeffrey Schlupp reduced the arrears.
But any chance of a fightback were dashed when Saka scored his second and Arsenal’s fourth of the afternoon.
Ex-England striker Owen was impressed by Arsenal’s dominant victory and praised ‘underrated’ White for his role in the win.

White has starred as a right-back this season and Owen says his ‘partnership’ with Saka is ‘very important’ for the Premier League leaders.
‘That partnership was particularly impressive,’ Owen told Premier League Productions. ‘That combination play is very important for Arsenal.
‘Ben White gets forward, he links the play and has the pace to get back when he needs to.
‘There was a lovely moment towards the end of the game where he made a tackle and was celebrating. I feel he’s a bit of a underrated player for Arsenal at the moment.’
