Last year, Lego announced no less than seven new Mario sets for MAR10 (pic: Nintendo/Lego)
The MAR10 celebrations include a new movie trailer, more Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC, and now a Lego showcase that’s teasing new reveals.
Nintendo has already begun its MAR10 Day celebrations ahead of the day itself this Friday. Although it was leaked beforehand, the company recently unveiled a new Nintendo Switch bundle that comes with a select Mario game of your choosing and promotional stickers for the Super Mario Bros. movie.
Speaking of the movie, that too will receive its final trailer the day before on Thursday, March 9, and it now turns out that the Lego company will have a themed showcase of its own on the day.
Exactly what will be shown isn’t known yet, but Lego has told fans to expect ‘big updates and even bigger reveals.’
The announcement is accompanied by some behind-the-scenes photos of host Jack Gardner preparing for the showcase, who can be seen holding the Lego Bowser figure that came out last year.
Although it’s not a guarantee, the immediate assumption is that Lego will announce a new Mario set. After all, it unveiled seven of them during last year’s MAR10 Day event, as well as debuted the Princess Peach figure.
Given the timing, it wouldn’t be surprising if it announced a Lego set based on the Super Mario Bros. movie since the showcase takes place the day after the new trailer premieres.
With the movie coming to cinemas in April, it’d make perfect sense for Lego to capitalise on it with a tie-in set or figures.
A link for the showcase isn’t available yet, but Nintendo’s website mentions that it’ll begin at 4pm GMT. Nintendo also adds that it’ll contain ‘exclusive content and a big reveal.’
There has been chatter of Lego releasing a set based on The Legend Of Zelda, with images of one leaking online last month, but fans probably shouldn’t expect to see it during a showcase that’s meant to be focusing on Super Mario.

This week will also see the launch of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s fourth wave of DLC on Thursday, March 9 which adds Birdo as an extra playable character alongside the usual eight racetracks.
Most of the tracks return from previous games, including the Mario Kart Tour mobile title, but there’ll be an entirely original track based on Yoshi’s Island.
