PMQs – Boris Johnson faces last ever grilling from Sir Keir

Today’s Prime Minister’s Questions will be Boris Johnson’s last as PM.

Johnson reluctantly stepped down as PM earlier this month and the Tory party are engaged in a bitter contest to replace him.

Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss and Penny Mordaunt are the final three. By 16:00 BST today we’ll have the final two candidates.

They will spend the summer travelling the country engaging in hustings for 200,000 Tory party members. A winner – and therefore new PM will be announced on 5 September.

Parliament goes into recess tomorrow for the summer break, making today his last PMQs.

What should we expect from tis week’s PMQs?

Last week’s PMQs was a lively event – with two MPs kicked out and the PM and Sir Keir taking jabs at one another.

The PM thanked Starmer for being “considerably less lethal than other members of this House” adding: “Over three years, in spite of every opportunity, he’s never really come up with an idea, a plan or a vision for this country.”

The PM is likely to repeat last week’s claims – about how proud he is of his government, whilst Sir Keir Stamer is likely to take aim at the PM and his possible successor.

Boris Johnson may discuss climate change after the two-day heatwave and record temperatures. The PM missed three COBRA meetings on the matter.
